Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about listings, services, bookings and using Findings.

What is Findings and how does it work?

Findings is a map-based community platform where you can sell, give away or gift items and offer services.

Listings appear on the map based on their location, so you can easily see what's near you. As you browse the map, you only see the listings that fall within your visible area.

How do I add a listing?

Listings can be added by logged-in users with a verified email. You fill it in with a handy four-step wizard.

Log in or sign up and verify your email.

Add your address in your profile – you can't create listings without it.

Click the "Add" button at the top.

In the "Basic information" step, choose the type (For sale, Giving away or Offering a service), and enter a title, description and – if selling – a price.

In the "Address" step, mark the item's location on the map.

In the "Category and condition" step, pick a category, subcategory and (for items) the condition.

In the "Photos" step, upload photos, agree to the terms and click "Publish".

What's on a listing page?

At the top you get the photo gallery with thumbnails, the title and the price (or a "Giving away" / "Service" badge), followed by the category, subcategory and the item's condition.

The side card holds the contacts: a "Send a message" button, the listing's address and the phone number if the author provided one. The heart icon saves the listing for later, and on your own listing you'll see "Edit" and "Delete" buttons.

Service listings also show a cover photo, a short headline, a "Service provided by" strip with the provider's trust signals, the area they serve and their links. If the provider has switched on their availability calendar, you also get a calendar of free slots you can book from right there.

How do I edit or delete a listing?

You'll find your listings under "My listings". There you can edit each one (change the text, price, photos or location) or delete it entirely.

Changes are saved immediately and visible to other users.

If you delete a service listing that still has upcoming bookings, you'll get a warning first – the bookings don't disappear on their own, so cancel them first. Any working hours set for that specific service are deleted along with it.

How do the address and map location work?

Every listing has a location on the map so others can see roughly where the item is. You set the location while creating the listing – enter an address or drop a pin on the map.

Can I hide my exact address?

Yes. In the listing you can choose to hide the exact address – the map then shows only an area of roughly 300 m, the distance to the listing is approximate, and the precise address stays private.

An interested person can click "Request address" on the listing page. You'll see the request and can approve or decline it – approving sends the exact address to that person in a chat message rather than publishing it.

How do I contact a listing's author?

On every listing page you can reach the author through the platform's chat – click the "Send a message" button. This lets you safely agree on price, location and pickup time without sharing your contact details.

If the author provided a phone number, logged-in users can reveal it by clicking "Show" next to the contacts and call directly. Providing a phone number is optional – if the author didn't share one, you can always reach them through chat.

Why is the phone number hidden in the listing?

The phone number isn't shown right away and isn't even sent with the listing data – it's revealed only to a logged-in user who clicks "Show" themselves.

This protects the author's contact details from automated harvesting (bots) and spam – only real, logged-in people can see the number, not random visitors or search engines.

How are service listings different from items?

Choose the "Offering a service" type in the wizard – there's no condition to fill in, and the address means the place you work at or around.

A price is optional for services. If you set one, you can choose how it's counted: fixed, hourly (€/h) or "from".

You can also switch on "Accept bookings" in the listing – visitors will then see your free slots and can book an appointment straight from the listing.

What is the availability calendar and how do I turn it on?

The availability calendar shows when you work so clients can pick a free slot themselves, instead of going back and forth over dates in chat.

Open "Availability calendar" from the menu.

Switch on "Enable availability calendar".

Set the appointment length, the earliest booking allowed, how far ahead free slots are shown, and the break between appointments.

Under "Weekly working hours", turn on the days you work and enter the hours – a single day can hold several time ranges.

Under "Exceptions", block holidays or individual hours.

Click "Save" – the free slots appear on your service listings immediately.

Can I set different working hours for different services?

Yes. The default schedule applies to every service that doesn't have its own. Pick a specific service at the top of the page and click "Set for this service" – that service then gets its own hours, appointment length and exceptions.

You can move it back to the default schedule at any time. Exceptions on the default schedule (a holiday, say) close all of your services, while a service's own exceptions apply only to it.

Times are always shown in your timezone, and the break you set is kept around every booking for travel or preparation.

How do I book a slot with a provider?

Booking is available to logged-in users with a verified email.

Open the service listing.

Pick a day in the calendar – that day's free slots appear below it.

Choose a time and click "Book".

Optionally describe briefly what you need, then click "Send booking".

What happens after I book a slot?

The booking reaches the provider as a chat message and an email. Its status starts as "Pending".

The provider clicks "Confirm" or "Decline" in that same message. The status updates instantly for both sides, and an email about the decision goes out too.

Either side can cancel the booking until the appointment has started. A declined or cancelled slot becomes free for others again.

If someone booked the same slot moments earlier, you'll see a notice and can pick another one – two bookings for the same slot are impossible.

The provider sees all of their bookings under "Availability calendar", in the "Bookings" list.

What does a service page look like and how do I create one?

Every service has a public page of its own – its listing. You can send it to clients, search engines can find it, and it shows the cover, the description, the price, your free slots for the next two weeks and trust signals: verified phone and email, the year you joined, and the number of completed bookings. Offer several different services? Each gets its own page – its own cover, description, service area and links.

Add a listing and choose the "Offering a service" type.

On the "Category" step, write a short headline, set the area you serve and add links to your website, Facebook or Instagram if you have them (https only).

On the "Photos" step, upload a cover photo (a wide one, 1600×600 px, looks best).

Publish the listing – the page is live straight away, with nothing separate to publish.

Does my exact address show on a service page?

No. The page shows only your service area – an approximate area with the distance you set. If you've hidden your address in your profile or listings, only an approximate location is shown, and your exact address and phone number are not published.

A service page shows a "Service provided by" strip with your name and trust signals. How many services you offer in total is shown to nobody – each listing speaks only for itself.

How do I save listings I like?

Every listing has a heart icon – tap it to save the listing. You'll find all your saved listings under "Saved" so you can come back to them later.

How do I hear about new listings that suit me?

Pick the filters you want on the map (category, condition, type), click "Follow filter" and set a radius around the map's centre.

Once a day you'll get an email if a listing matching that filter appears. You can manage and delete your followed filters (up to 20) under "Followed filters".

Does using Findings cost anything?

No, using Findings is free. If you'd like, you can voluntarily support the platform in the "Support" section.
